Spotted boxfish disapppeared - is this dangerous?

My spotted boxfish disappeared about a week ago. I assume it's dead since it's always out. I've looked everywhere in the tank, and I see no trace of it.
I'm concerned because it's poisonous. Does anyone know if they can still release poison once they're dead, killing the entire taink? The fish was about 5 inches long in a 75 gallon tank.

Wow! 5 inches and you can't find it. I'd def. get those fish out regardless. You don't have a big aquarium so if the toxins doesn't kill your fish then the decomposing boxfish might. Check your ammonia levels just make sure there are no traces. Not sure if the boxfish remains toxic after it passes but I do know that they can't release the toxin from their skin after they die. Although it may have some residual toxins if it was in the process of releasing the toxins before it died, which many boxfish do before death. If you can't get your fish out then add carbon to absorb the toxins, if any.
