spotted fish

My fish seem to get a bright spot on their body and then die. I have lost an arc-eye, flame hawk, yellow tail, 2 green chromis, and midnight angel. I still have a 6 line wrasse, scooter blennie, yellow tail, maroon clown and 2 green chromis. Also the 6 line wrasse has started to get the bright spot. I have a 75 gal. tank with bio ball filtration and a protiein skimmer, with 60 lbs. live sand and 55 lbs. of live rock. The tank is over a month old and has been cycled. I added the fish 4 at a time. My water is in good condition and I am doing water changes of 15 % every week. <img src="graemlins//dead.gif" border="0" alt="[dead]" />

A tank that is as young as yours should not have that many fish in it.Then add the ones you have lost, and your problem becomes obvious. You are adding WAY too much too quickly. You tank needs time to adjust to each new addition. These additions should be a month or two apart. And then only ONE FISH AT A TIME...By adding more than one,you are stressing the biosystem in your tank.(throwing it out of balance)This causes your tank to go through a mini recycle. This recycle produces ammonia and nitrite spikes that your fish can NOT handel...Plus the overcrouding is most likly causing stress in your fish. Both of these will cause the problems you have described....My advise would be do not add anything new to this tank for at least three months.Even if a fish dies,do not replace it.Let your tank settle down and balance out....Check the water readings daily, and keep us informed as to thier readings...I doubt if these readings are as good as you claim.A young tank as overstocked as this MUST have poor water.

Hi. Thank you for the input. You're right. Every time a fish died, I would replace him. I have stoped adding fish. I have been monitering my water every day and since the big spike on the test kit, the ammonia is either at 0 or .25. The nitrites are 0 and the nitrate is 0 to .05, but my ph has been reading a little low at 7.9 to 8.0. I also started getting brown algea for the second time.
