Spotted Grunt

Has anyone seen one of these? I saw one today at the lfs, theyre pretty cool looking. Any ideas how big they get?

i take it you are talking about the oriental sweetlips. they get very big, and arent very hardy at all. i would say an oriental sweetlips woul need a minimum of 150 gallons. as i said they arent very hardy either and can be picky eaters. bo

It was only about 2 inches. It looked similar to a mandarin I guess, just all brown with black spots. Cool lookin though.

JOHNAY3, Heres what I found on grunts....
They eat well, enjoying a diet of small fishes, shrimp and dried foods. Grunts may grow to quickly fot the average aquarium.
Many grind thier pharyngeal teeth, the resulting sound being amplified by the swimbladder. Juvs often perform cleaning services for other fish. They can become quite large....Hope this helps..Lisa

thanks a lot, no one else seemed to know anything about them, or just didnt know what I was talking about. How large would they get though...approx.?
