SPS (Acropora Austera)

I have a green colored Acropora Austera, that has several branches. For some reason, a couple of weeks ago the skin and polyps just started following off the skeleton, and now a few branches just have their skeletons exposed.
I managed to frag off some branches and saved a few that seem to be normal again (no more peeling skin) and the polyps on those remaining branches are opening like usual.
I was wondering if the skin and polyps would eventually grow back and cover the exposed skeletons (other branches)? What's really annoying is there is a ton of coral barnacles that have drill holes all over the branches and sticking their fans out.
Thanks!

They might if algae does not grow over them first. I hate RTN, you never know why it happens, all your other SPS seem to be fine.

Seriously. Everything else is fine, then one day I notice peeling and before you know it, within 24 hours, I have a few branches that are only skeletons.
Right, so I just have to make sure algae doesn't over. I have some slimy purple ones growing on them already. I try to clear them whenever I can.
