I have a SPS frag on one of those plugs. I guess Thats what you call them.
Im just wondering if you guys/gals have any tips on positioning/mounting these things. Do you glue them to a bigger rock? or what?
thanks

If it's aquarium-safe epoxy yes. I've used Aquastik in the past.

well if i can pull the rock out of the tank..I pop the frag off the plug because I HATE plugs..then glue it to the rock..if i cant then i pop off that ungodly looking plug and glue it to a small piece of rock rubble...then glue the rubbel to the larger rock in the tank..use super glue gel..give agood amount and it will haze over underwater but once you get it down to the rock press it on and give it a slide side to side on the rock to pop the bubble of glue and release the fresh glue on the rock and it will be glued in place.

If the plug has a small piece that sticks down, try and break that off. With the ORA corals, I had to use a dremel to saw off the bottom portion of the plug.
I usually keep the frag on the plug because I like to keep it with the encrusted part on the plug. I find that the frag will grow faster if it stays on the plug and doesnt have to re-encrust an area where it is attached.
I use reef safe epoxy along with super glue gel. I put some super glue under the plug piece which helps it stick to the epoxy. Then I put some glue on the bottom of the epoxy which helps it stick to the rock. The super glue dries quickly which then allows the epoxy to harden slower. Eventually the sps will encrust over the epoxy or coralline will cover it and so you dont see the epoxy.
