I posted this on Reef 2 Reef as well. Maybe the SPSers here will be able to help make sense of it....
Thats an odd one. Id like to say encrusting monti, but the polyps boggle me. They appear too large for montipora polyps, not the correct formation as well. The closest thing I can think of is pagoda but I can hardly agree with that. It just looks similar on the polyps

The polyps are too small for a pagoda aren't they? I don't know though. DOn't know much about them either.

Could be a sunset monti that was under poor lighting. Here's one that I just purchased that was under crappy lighting.

Definitely Sunset Montipora. Nice score can I ask what you paid for it? A Tyree specimen can go for about $100.

Heres a picture of Original. Noted that if its a tyree its like 100$ for a 1/2- 3/4in frag! Even if it isn't its still a score!

Latin name...Ricordeaus Maximunchimous. It's a rare eastern Indian Ocean Yuma eater. I could probably help you save some of your livestock my friend....but it will cost ya. I only have your best interest at heart.

Think it would be safe to frag it? I guess it can be fragged like millis? IT seems thick fleshed by appearance. I would hate to damage it.

I don't think it is. The corallites are raised???????
But pretty spread out as well. Flricordia did say it was under poor light. Maybe it was reaching as far and fast as it could for light that the polyps are a bit spaced more than normal??
Just making a guess, I'm not nearly as familiar with the crusters...

I consulted with some folks that are pretty good with this sort of thing...and they suggest perhaps...Turbinaria or Scroll Coral. I think they nailed it.
