sps monti cap question

is it possible to keep a monti cap bout 7-8in. from the light source? i have a nova extreme T5 lighting fixture with 4 54 watt bulbs. two are actinic. wanted to know if possible

Yes, that should be fine.

yes i hv kept one under that light for 6 months b4 upgrading to 6x54w. its 18 inches from the light.

I have mine in the middle under 2 250mh's so at the top under t-5s should be fine.

make sure to give ut good flow to prevent poops and stuff from landing on it.

my LFS said i wouldn't be able to. he said i need metal halide. any comments??

like i said b4, i kept the same green monti cap under nova 4x54w for 6 months with growth. i upgraded to a better t5 bc i started keeping clams in december. the bta i have in the pic was also under 4x54w t5. i wouldnt go to that lfs for advice if thats what they told u.

MH's are not necessary, I have grow monti's under 2x65w PC's they just don't color up the same as the MH's, but are still nice.

so, if i have 4 T5 bulbs, will the color be the same as metal halide? if not, would it look similar under T5?

t-5 IME color the coral up, but not as much as MH. the color under t-5 always looks a little washed out when compared to MH. but it can definetly be kept under your lighting.

it still needs good lighting. brown sps can regain its color if given the proper condition.
