SPS trouble.

For the past 6 weeks I've been fighting a hair algae problem, i'm losing the battle but winning the war.
My problem is as the hair algae is dying off and as my fish pick away at it and as well as myself harvesting it, it is getting caught up in my acros from my power head shooting the water flow on them, so I have been using my target feeder to blow the algae off. I've also pointed my power head up above the acros. now the tip are turning a rusty color and there growth has stopped. Do anybody have any suggestions, and will they recover.

After the algae is gone, you might have a die-off of your hermits to a sustainable number, but tiny blue leg hermits are great and eliminating hair algae. In my 24 gallon, once I was done with my cycle I added 5, and in 2 days they had chopped down the jungle

Ya I went to the LFS and they received All scarlet in place of the blue legs so I wasn't able to get any

Blue legs might not have been available where ever they buy their stuff, but I would try again next week. Emerald crab might work too, but they can get a tid bit aggressive when it comes to feeding time.

Hey wooden head fellow. Yes hunted I am talking to you. Stay away from the hermits. You will really regret them. Just keep the acros clean with your blower or point the power head up a bit.

Whey do you say that
???? I have at least 75 in my 210g reef and no problems except a few that go on my leathers and a few acros occasionally. They dont seem to cause any problems in my tank. I get mine out of the intercoastal waterway here in Jupiter, mabey South Florida blue leggies are more laid back
.

Only problem with blue legged hermits I see, is that theyre really dumb. Alot of times climbing corals, then climbing back down, while making the corals uncomfortable for a bit. Ive had to dislodge them quite a few times.

Yes I could not imagine anything bothering your tank. Haven't seen any pics of it in awhile or I haven't been around much. Still stunning I bet.
I think the ones we get up here are pissed off that it is so cold. Most of the blue leggys are more of a headache than a clean up crew. Plus I would worry with his tiny clams. Thats why I say that
???. Was just stating an opin..

Plus I know how hunted is. He will here something and then buy about 100 of them. Could be a nice snack for his oversized lobster. But then again hunted has a lots of money.
