SPS Under PC Lighting?

I have a 55 with 4x65W CSL Power Compacts. I was given an acro. frag from a friend. I never would have thought of purchasing one and trying to keep it under my lighting, but since this was given to me, I figured what the heck. Well, that was about 8 months ago, and it is doing well. It isn't growing super fast, but it has a number of new branches on it and seems to be doing great. I have it placed right at the top of my tank...about 3-4 inches under the surface. Just wondering if anyone else has had success with keeping SPS under PC lighting? Thanks.

i've had a wild collected acropora for over a year now on pc vho combination..i got it half dead from a local fish store, figured it was going to die anyway.
it is like yours right near the surface and is growing very well. it has completly recovered over the dead skeleton and i've had to break some frags off to keep it from growing out of the water..
in my opinion pc/vho work's...just not as well

Sounds like a Green Bali Slimmer, AKA Green Slimmer Acropora. Do a search for it, it was one of the 'Coral of the Week.'

Sorry, but I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to stony corals. Like I said, this was given to me as a frag and has done pretty well. Here is a picture of it. Any info. you could offer me about this would be great. Thanks.

Well, there was supposed to be a picture of it, but I can't figure out how to upload photos. It keeps telling me my file I am trying to upload is too big. I could e-mail it to you if you wouldn't mind?

O.K. From the photos I found on Green Bali Slimers via a yahoo search, I am 98% sure that is NOT what I have. So, now I'm really curious. Like I said, if anyone is willing, I can e-mail you a pic if you are confident you could I.D. it. Thanks.

skilos1, thanks for posting those pics. How were able to get them posted. I tried forever last night, but couldn't do it. Thanks for your help. Hopefully we can get some other thoughts on what it is.

change your pic to a jpeg, it is most likely captured as a bitmap file, which is too big for most boards to accomidate.
