Trying to get a decent rock formation so we need to attach rock to rock. The base solid but we dont want the upper level rocks getting knocked around or bulldozed over once we add coral. Does glueing the rocks together require them to be dried out or is there something that will stick to damp rock? The rocks we have are 15 years old and very live so we dont want to disrupt that.
I just lock the rocks by kind of gently twisting them till the nooks just fit together and build up that way. I also used a large piece of fake coral, it was just the right shape to stabilize the left side of my rock work. Those rocks are not going anywhere. I built on the glass so my sand sifting goby won't dig under, and disrupt the whole thing.
Here is a picture of my rocks before my move with few corals so you can see. And the second picture is wih corals at my new house. The rocks are slightly different but as close to the original as I could get them.
I made the caves so I could place coral that doesn't want much light in there. I built the rocks in the center of the tank...so the water current would flow over and around not just at them. For me the corals do best that way.
Glue won't hold unless you use a ton of it.
