Stagnant water

Is it possible to store some used water a couple of days so my friend could jump start his tank???

the gas exchange part im aware of but I think i should have phrased my question diferently.
I think im asking how long the water will remain stable without the influence of essential elements. i.e. LR, LS, and other biological elements present in most tanks...

You mean water from your tank? There is no benefit whatsoever, IMO, to giving them water from the tank except to pass on nitrates, etc....there is very little bacteria in the water. You are better off offering as mentioned some substrate or LR. But the water really won't "jump start" the tank, IMO.
If just mixing new water it is not a problem - powerhead would be a benefit though...

Thanks Ophiura~! Yeah thats what i meant...i wanted to do my water change and fill his tank with my water.

Bacteria concentrations WOULD be alot less subatantial in the water...never really gave it too much thought~!
