I made a stand pipe yesterday. Few mistakes but finally got it working properly. The trick of controlling the flow is the hole drill at the top of the cap. If the hole too big, it will decrease water flow into the sump and you have a back flow in the tank (less water entering the sump and the pump still pumping the same rate) It will dry up your sump. If the hole is too small, your over flow will make noise (flowing too fast into the sump)
The key is to drill the smallest hole first and test the system and slowly increase the size of hole to balance the water flow... I hope this help....
