Stand Pipe

Hey Gang,
I made a stand pipe yesterday. Few mistakes but finally got it working properly. The trick of controlling the flow is the hole drill at the top of the cap. If the hole too big, it will decrease water flow into the sump and you have a back flow in the tank (less water entering the sump and the pump still pumping the same rate) It will dry up your sump. If the hole is too small, your over flow will make noise (flowing too fast into the sump)
The key is to drill the smallest hole first and test the system and slowly increase the size of hole to balance the water flow... I hope this help....

How about putting an adjustable air valve in this hole??? One more thing, This topic really should be in the equiptment and diy page. Not trying to be bitchy, but they gave us all these new topics and we really should use them. OK.

Sorry Mr. Salty, i shouldnt post this FYI on this Fish Only area; but i would like to comment on the air control valve. I thought about it too, but it would take more work and fitting if you use a air valve. Once you get the flow rate, you dont have to worry about some person play with you air valve.......Just my personal commment and please dont take it personal.. you have been a great help... Thanks
David
