ok i am building a stand for a 180 6x2x2
I got help from a guy (family) with experience building stands for heavy stuff and I wanted to check with anyone else about his work. I will post a pic soon and that will be easier to see.
-the top and bottom have a sheet of ply wood 3/4''(covers the surface and top)
-there are 4 4x4's at the corners
-2 2x6 on each side of each of the 4x4
-so the ply wood connects the two 6 foot "rails"
there is no center supports
but for it to break the tank would have to break through 4 6'' thick beams. thanks and ask for any info or better explanations.
ps. decks are built in the similar designs.

my 75 stand has a 2X4 frame on top and a 2X6 frame on the bottom and has doubled up 2X4's in the corners, 8/16" plywood on the top and sump area, covered with solid oak and oak plywood

so does the oak act as a dresser upper or (i know it is strong) does it act as a stronger reinforcement. I guess I am asking, what does the oak cover mean?

Even with the 4, 2x6's as the span...I would be concerned not so much as them breaking, but the sag they could develope under the constant weight...that sag could affect the seams of your tank if it is glass.

the oak is kind of a shell on top of the frame, oak plywood on the sides and solid oak on the front, the back is open
