I am going to buy a 75 Gallon tank this weekend and I have 3 ten gallon tanks (yes i know they are small but they make great damsel tanks). I was doing some research and found out that 1 gallon of water equals 38 pounds, this means that one 75 gallon tank and 3 ten gallon tanks it gonna come out to be about 3990 Lbs, is this right or did I find the wrong value? If this is right then will just plain old wood handle all that weight??? If you have any plans please e-mail them to me (bombbay@aol.com). Thanks a lot!!!

1 gal of tap waters comes in at 8.33 lbs. The amount of salt will not make a significant difference. Hence 10 gals of water is 83.3 lbs.

Actually the weight of saltwater depends on the specific gravity. Here is the formula for conversion:
Multiply the specific gravity of the liquid by 8.33* (weight in pounds of 1 gallon of water); then multiply this result by the number of gallons, to obtain the weight in pounds.
This will give you a very precise weight of your salt water.
