in the last 2 weeks my yellow star is looking blah. I noticed a change when we added a engineer goby, he has piles of sand all over since we aded him. one pile was on the star polop, so I moved him. He has not bloomed like before.

How long ago was this? How long was the stat polyp covered for? Is the goby just moving piles of sand or creating a mini sand storm?

Sand gets lodged and clogs up the coral. Golden headed sleeper gobies are bad for traveling with the sand (what I have). I turn all my coral on the side, so sand can fall off when my goby dumps the sand on them. This works for me and may work for you.
Your yellow polyps may came out again, don't give up yet.

when he entered the tank all sand was flat, he made his homes under all the base rock in tank. now there are piles all over the place. one just happended to be where the star was. I will just have to keep a eye on him.
