Hi all,
i just purchased a piece of LR encrusted with a Star polyp colony on it and i have a couple of questions.
first off when i was placeing them in tank 2 small areas broke loose and they are more or less hanging on ,they kind of are hinged and moving with current .is there something i can or should do about this? can i attach them to something else if they fall off or if i clip them off?will they reattach to LR?
secondly, they have receded and i want to know how long does it useully take for them to come back out?
TIA

You can glue them back down or to another piece of LR with superglue gel. It varies about when they come out. Mine came out within hours. Some people have had to wait days. No constant when they decide.....be patient.

Assuming you have good water quality. They will come out when the lights are on. I assume they are new to the tank, so it may take a few days for them to come out.
Once they are settled. They should emerge as the lights come on. Mine usually always do. There are days they may only partially come out. Usually when disturbed by my hermits.

When I put mine in my tank. They came out partially. But, it took a few days for them to fully emerge.
From reading on these forums. It isnt uncommon for them to stay retracted for a day or two every once in a while....even after they have been in the tank awhile.
They will retract when disturbed as expected. They don't want to end up as food for the other tank mates. They are considered hardy as corals go....so you should be fine.
