Apparently George Lucas just sold his Star Wars franchise and Lucasfilms LTD to Disney for a little over 4 billion dollars.
I don't know the first thing about Star Wars, however I just had a customer who got a call while she was dining in with her cupcakes and about fell out of her chair... She was VERY excited to tell me about it!
So all you Star Wars people out there, is this a good thing?!?

Normally I would say that Disney would ruin the series, but Lucas already did that.. I guess it will be interesting to see how this goes.

There are scripts for episodes 7,8, and 9. This was the majority of the Negotiations. Disney writers are better than lucas so the Movies will be better than the last batch of crap we were given. I am actually Torn about this. This could shelve many aspects of the franchise I was looking forward to. But this could unshelve many other things I was wanting, such as the Boba Fett movie. My main concern is how this affects the Novels and that aspect. as I am more into that now days than some of the other aspects.

As a Sci Fi geek, I have to say I'm kind of excited about this. I love the original trilogy, and the "prequels"........well, they sucked. Hard. The only good thing that came out of those three movies was the battle on Mustafar between Anakin and Obi-Wan. That sequence made up for Jar Jar.
Barely.

I hope that they try to fill in some loopholes and not create new ones.
im kind of excited for it. at least lucas made out like a bandit

I'm thinking they are gonna suck. Just saw a pic that had Mickey Mouse with a light saber and Donald Duck in storm trooper armor. Puked in my mouth a little at that one...

Mickey as a Jedi knight is kinda cool, but "Darth Maul Donald" is frelling hilarious. And Goofy as JarJar.....well, that's pretty insulting. To Goofy.

What loopholes. I only know of one and that was due to director privilege. There are no serious loopholes.

Once the new trilogy is complete Disney will release a new " star wars" movie every two years.
I'm with Zim,... seriously.
And I hope they don't kill it with bad filmography/cinematography. I hope they stick to somewhat the same style as before.

What I have heard is the stories are about Skywalker rebuilding the Jedi. Sounds cool but the devil will be in the details. Be nice if they could get the original actors to be involved in 7 but I doubt Ford will do it.

Ford......he's the one who would be tough to re-cast. Who could fill Harrison Ford's shoes? Nathan Fillion might be able to do it, but honestly I always thought that his Malcom Reynolds character was too obviously based on Han Solo anyway, so that might be weird.
In my geeky opinion, Solo's image is more iconic than Skywalker.

If it' Disney, they'll find a role for Tom Hanks and John Ratzenberger.
