while breaking down the old 80 gal tank this last weekend I was sifting thru some of the sand and found a lot of tiny starfish, they were very small and white in color. does anyone know anything about these? what are they called? are they comon in a reef tank? Just curious

Thanks, but that's not it, I have a lot of those too, but these guys have very skinny legs not but thicker then a hair.

You might be lucky and have some mini-brittle stars, great scavengers and stay tiny..

that's what it looks like a mini brittle star, Is that what there called? whe managed to find over a couple dozen and put over in the new tank.

They are the "mini" brittlestar Amphipholis, if they are white and have 5 arms.

sounds like them, they are white, and I think they had five arms, we were to busy finding them and transfering them to notice.
