Starfish problems

I have tried 2 orange linkias and both have died within a few days. Water parameters are ok. No other problems with inverts or fish. Brittle and serpent stars ok too. Any ideas? I would love to have another but I dont want to harm them. Thanks.

How big is the tank? How long have you had the tank going? They most likely died of starvation(though that fast, is prolly unlikely).

Acclimation shock is the number 1 killer in starfish, they can be affected by it for up to a month, 3 hours or more is not uncommon to acclimate.
Then there is the subject of tank size, age and the issue of possible starvation over time.
Ophiura, is the starfish expert here, I remember her saying this on another thread.

It is a 150 gal thats been up for about a year....I acclimated the star for about 2 hours, that may have been my undoing

Please post your specific tank parameters. What is "perfect" for fish is frequently fatal for stars. It is acclimation shock, without a doubt.
