Starting a 2 gal nano

Hello all,
I gave my son a 2 Gal nano for his birthday. I have a few questions that I wanted to throw out. I was going to take water, crushed coral, and LR out of my tank and put into his. Is this a good idea? My tank is established and the water params are fine. Will the tank still need to cycle? I would imagine the filter will have to build some sort of bacteria even though everything else is established?!?! Has anyone run into problems doing it this way? Any other recommendations/questions are welcome.
Thanks,
Copper

i have lol. i have a 3 gallon nano i got from tom aquariums i believe. i really dont remember. and i got water and lr from my established 75 gallon reef tank. yea i did wait like a week to maybe 2 weeks just for the filter to get some bacteria. my lfs said it wasnt really necessary but i stilled did. and yea so far things have come out great. i actually bought another one 2 months ago which i have been cycling for that long and until now im putting frags and stuff. but for the one i got with my established tank i just frag some of my own corals and they are doing really great. so yea both nano of mine are doing really great.
i hope that answer your question

I have a 1 gal pico that I just love. I did the same thing with taking everything from an existing tank. One way to speed things up is if you can attach that new filter onto your existing tank and let it run on there for 2 weeks that also works. Or you can do it the way already mentioned.

Sure I will do my best....

Here is some new photos of my tank I just took 5 mins ago. I just bought a new ric, the pic is not the best and it still needs to settle in but its baby pink/green. I hope it colors up more as it settles in. I had to get rid of the brain, it was not doing well as it was a rescue. I placed with a friend whom has a huge reef tank and so it has alot more room there and hopefully will make it too.
I am just keeping rics, zoas, gsp (love that green).
Email away your question.

Is the acrilic really scratched??
That can sometimes make the whole image look cloudy.
Is it full of saltwater right now??
Thanks for the comments, I need to get a better shot of those rics. Tomorrow I will play around with that.

Thanks for asking. Unfortunately, I can not do anything until my son comes back. This is going to be a bit of an adventure. He lives about two hours away and the tank is at his house. During the school year I only see him every other weekend. I am working on getting an explict list of directions so he can get started. There are a few things I need to pick up for him such as a test kit and timer for his lights. I will probably get that this weekend. I will definitely keep everyone posted.
