Starting a 4-6 gal nano.

I've been thinking seriously about starting a nano tank. With the size around 4-6 gallons. Can you tell me how hard it is to start and upkeep a tank that size? What's involve?:help:

This is going to be a really stupid answer but . . . . its just like a bigger tank only smaller.
Seriously . . . the only difference is that you cant "forget" to do something such as top off, dose, or a water change. There is less room for error.
If you are dedicated to doing it, there is no more difficulty involved (said with caution) than a larger tank.
Try the mini-bow 7 gallon tank made by All-Glass. REALLY nice nano tank set up!

,
when i first started my ten gallon to get in the habit i made myself a weekly and daily checklist. after a couple of weeks i no longer needed the list.

A small SW aquarium, typically a reef, that is usually less than 20 gallons.

Much debated - some people say 20 some say 30 gallons .... I think any tank 3 feet long or less and under 30 gallons is a nano .....
I think the biggest difference is the changes happen so much faster ina a nano tank. low PH - your whole tank effected much more quickly then in a large tank .... ammonia spike - same small fish dies in a big tank no issue - in a nano it could have disastrous impacts!!
Good luck!

Ditto on what everybody has said. It also depends on what you do with it. No fish can be easier that with fish. A rock with 'shrooms would be easy. In any event it takes nearly daily attention.
Good Luck!

How about this, a 6 gal nano with LR, some shrooms and a few small corals, one shrimp, one hermit and some snails?:notsure:

I still say go with the AGA Mini-Bow 7 . . . but the inhabitants sound good. Perhaps a couple more hermits and snails, but the shrimp can make a good tennant.

I agree with 007. When selecting corals, stay with easy ones. Water params can change fast in a 7 gal & some softies handle it better than others.
