Good equipment list. I like a mag drive 7 on 75g tanks. More is too much, less seems not enough.
Any reason for going with a needle wheel protein skimmer?
BRS dosers aren't cheap - are you sure you want to do the more hands on approach of the balling method, rather than an appropriately sized calcium reactor?
I like your sump choice. As for a heater, titaniums are the best - most with separate temp gauges to make sure the water is being heated to the proper temp.
I'm on board! Looking forward to the build.

I was also considering a vertex skimmer, I'm gonna order next week so nothing is set in stone. I really like the brs dosers and are familiar with them, and I prefer to use what know. I think there are several approaches to keeping the 3 levels stable, I just Personally like the brs dosers.

Very nice list........

Couple suggestions.....Reef Octopus makes nice skimmers, but I'd look at the diablo vs nwb skimmer....Just my .02 Bubble Magus, Skimz is another head turner as well, and there are others of course......
I'd hold out a bit on the BRS dosers....Apparently there seems to be some quality issue or what not with that product, and there has been quite a bit of failures with these pumps wearing out rather prematurely......Particularly the gears inside, and they aren't replaceable or parts aren't available from the supplier to replace them so that should be a consideration.......
BRS rock is a subject of phosphate leaching.....Not saying it's bad rock which it isn't, but be prepared to possibly combat that issue. I would suggest possibly looking at Marcorocks. I've bought, and soaked extensively and monitored phosphate levels and found none.......
Return pumps there's tons of choices......WaterBlaster, Eheim, Magdrive.....Really depends on if you want external or submersible pump.....
Heaters......Hmmmmm tough choice.....I prefer titanium, and as Seth mentioned I also like the separate temp controller on a heater.....The nice thing about what you have listed is, you could run your heater through your Apex, which in turn would be a double redundancy of safety heater wise....If the heaters temp controller would fail, your Apex if connected would act as a secondary controller and monitor the heater malfunction and shut the power off to the heater prevent an overheat.......

hey shawn thanks a lot for your time. I also have heard great things about marcorock and will certainly take that into consideration. Im glad I posted this, I really like suggestions and comments. I made the mistake on my first tank by buying cheaper equipment, I wont do that again. I prefer a submersible heater, i like as much in the sump as i can...always worried about a leak :)
I plan on sanding the stand today and painting tomorrow. I also am gonna paint the back of the tank tomorrow.
can anyone recommend an ro/do unit? pref under 200... i could get by with a 35gpd too....i just want a quality unit...tired of buying water
