The best skimmer you can get for hang on is the Aqua C Remora
a bit pricey but the best you can get. :jumping:

1. do i need a skimmer, if i do how much would it be?
2. and does my list above look complete, equiptment wise?
im guessing all i need is a filter, maybe skimmer, heater, and those water flow pumps that push the water around.

I have been reading on skimmers a lot as I too am starting a 75 gallon tank. I finally decided to get the turboflotor multi as it seems to be on the better side with quality, reliability, and ease of use, not to mention it is one that can hang on back. From all the professionals I have talked to a skimmer is one of the most important aspects to SW aquariums.
Your other question that asked is you need to look at your lighting. I failed to do this and just recently had to buy a light that would serve the purpose I was wanting. It was on the expensive side but remember it is a one time cost and it is cheaper to have quality light then replace livestock due to poor light. If you choose to do a fish only tank you don't need to fork out the money that people who want a reef must do.

I would vote to skip the Aqua clear altogether, and just run a good skimmer and powerheads as long as you have enough LR and a smaller fish bio-load. Sumps sure do make things smoother but you can balance the tank self contained without anyother equipment than a skimmer and powerheads. Just have to make accomodations like lighter bioload, more attention to water issues, clean substrate, and heavy on the rock with no deadspots.
Many folks dont like them on here but look at a seaclone 100 yet? they are dirt cheap and I personally like them for out of the box skimmers on smaller tanks. Specially the price.
