I have 45 tall 36"*12"*23"tall that I would like to turn into a reef set up,it is now a fish only that has been up for 2 years. I have a 118w pc w/ att./10k. I only want to do soft corals. I am woundering what if any problems I might have with the tank being so tall. will the light be okay to reach the bottom half or would it not be worth trying. I will purchase the live rock to stack high so that the things that need the light more will be able to get it, please let me know your opinions.

IMO u wont have any problem keeping the medium lighting corals.. The water doesnt cut down the lighting much at all.. Sounds like to me a perfect oppurtunity to keep medium and low lighting corals ( medium towards the top and light being mostly mushrooms at the bottom...)

i think you'd be okay with most corals with that setup. as long as your rocks will be stacked high enough to put some coral near the surface if need be, i think you'd be fine. some additional lighting wouldn't hurt though. shrooms and other low light coral would probably be okay near the bottom. jmo
