I'm starting a new tank, intended to be a 29 gallon seahorse tank. Do I have everything I need for my DAY 1 PURCHASE? Thanks everyone.
1) Tank / stand
2) Salt and Distilled water
3) Sand
4) Live Rock
5) Filter (do I need this on day 1?)
6) Testing kits
7) Powerhead for water circulation
8) Heater/thermometer
Also, do people recommend those "aquapods" or any other type of all-in-one tanks? They seem easier?

you will also need:
1. Hydrometer
2. Protien Skimmer
3. Lighting System (you prob. knew that though)
as for the filter I would run that throughout your cycle. Thats what I did with my 46 gal and cycled in 3 weeks! If you are going to get live rock you can prob. start the cycle with that if it is uncured. Now with a seahorse tank I cannot give much advise, however I have read that they do not like too much water flow, so Im thinking the flow from filter and possibly a HOB protien skimmer will do the trick. Also seahorses are very sinsitive animals and require high water quality. With such a small tank I would spend the money and fill it with RO/DI water. Gook Luck and I hope I was of some assistance.

DITTO....I took 5 readings once in a ten minute span on my tank, and all were different with a hydrometer...hence the reason for a refractometer, especially on a smaller tank.
