starting all over

I finally moved and could only bring my 37g show tank. I need some input as to a filter to turn this into a reef tank. It is a toss up between a hang on refuguim or a small sump with the built in protein skimmer. I have gotten all of my sand and water from the beach and have started collecting little hermit crabs and nassuis snails...even some bumble bees. The only reason im grabbing my sand and water from the beach is because I live on Okinawa island now. What would you guys do for a filter?

I would go w/sump & skimmer.... just my opinon!!

i wouldnt buy a sump with a built in skimmer. Most if not all dont compare to stand-alone skimmers. Get lots of live rock...perferably 2 lbs per gallon of water. That will give you enough filtration to totally eliminate a mechanical filter.
