Starting My First Nano...

I posted this message under the "Nano" section of the message board, but I thought I'd post it here as well since it gets more traffic. I've had a 55 gallon reef set-up for about 3 1/2 years. I'd like to start a nano. I'm thinking of going with the JBJ 12G Deluxe. I was curious how much sand you would recommend putting in it. I assume it's not necessary to put a 6" deep sand bed in a nano....especially since I plan on putting ~15 lbs. of LR in it. Also, what would you recommend for fish and how many (I'm planning on doing a reef with softies and maybe an LPS)? I have little fish experience with my 55 since I've focused mainly on corals. However, this nano is for my son and he would like a few fish. Thanks for your help.

I don't have the cubes, but I do have two 10gs running right now, along with a 46. I have 20#'s in my nanos, along with 15-20 lbs live rock, and have never had a problem associated with a lack of LR or LS. Just my opinion.
