over the last 6 weeks I have lost all fish. My question is DT has been vacant for 6 weeks other then 2 crabs, snails, urchin, serpant star. the reason I lost all fish was poor thinking on my part, anyway I have a QT set up in basement. ready for new fish, the thing I was wondering was can inverts carry any disease as fish can, or is what was in DT hopefully gone with one one to carry disease.

You lost all fish??!!!

Do you know what killed everything?...that is where to start. Ammonia spikes would kill everything for example but ich would not.
Logically...if all fish except the inverts died, than what killed the fish didn't hurt the inverts. I don't think the inverts would carry anything harmful.
but I am no expert...

If you are talking about Ich, then no, you don't have to worry about the inverts. However, while the QT is in use, there should be no inverts in there. If you end up having to treat the QT'd fish with hypo or something, the inverts will die.

Make sure not to confuse a possibility of transfer with the possibility that the tank has not effectivley cleared itself yet. 6 weeks on the button? That is about the key timespan for saftey but not if it s really more like 4 weeks and you are just tired of looking at an empty tank.
As for transference, no the inverts will not harbor disease to hurt the fish.
It is a noteworthy point that you should isolate what killed the fish in order to not repeat the same proccess with the new batch.
I dont think it was amonia as amonia is more devistating to inverts than fish. it will kill everything but typically the inverts are more sensitive and die first.
What happened?

myself & lfs believe it was not ich but something that was eating the fish , all had plenty of sections where they were all white looking . I have done plenty of water changes in DT , was running it like there was fish in there all the time . All water test were fine, just want to be careful before add anymore fish. also leaving QT running , should be adding fish in QT thurs or fri ( 2 to 3 weeks in QT right ???? )

Ammonia was just an example, I did not mean to imply that I thought that is what killed your fish.

Check for stray voltage and see if they were getting zapped.

I understand complety, if i only had a brain that worked, I just cant remember what they called it at the fish store. the med that could have saved them was around 25 bucks . so I went the other way ( dont anyone get affenditoned ) also right now is 6 weeks on the dot with nothing in DT . If I get fish in next 2 days when they go in tank will 8 weeks with nothing in DT. ( does all that sound right )

Time table depends on the disease.
The easy way would be to answer your question directly.
The fun way is to refer you to the research section that has a wonderful spread with pictures to help you remember the name of the disease. Also how to prevent and treat it in the future.
Look at the disease section. She put a ton of work into building it to be user friendly. Great info to be familiar with when in this hobby.
Good luck.
