Starting Over

Ok just had some questions i have an empty 55 gal in my house that im setting back up to a reef tank and due to lack of space i cant have any kind of sump filter so i need to have the hang on back filter and i would like to get a hang on back protein skimmer also later on down the road would that be a ok combo

I would get a canister filter, mod a HOB into a refugium and a aqua-c skimmer. This is what I use on my 55.

Thanks i just looked them up after reading this and i like what i see. Any thoughts on a certain maker of the canister filter?

Before I decided to go with a sump on my 75g that I just got set up a little over a month ago I was going to go with either a HOB or a Canister Filter. If I didnt go with the sump I would have went with a Fluval Canister because they are the one that I saw had the best reviews on them. I know there are some of the people on here that still use canisters and they use Fluvals. Just my .02 HTH
