hi guys i plan to convert my 24g freshwater tank to saltwater
i have been researching marine tanks thoroughly and hope im ready but still have a few questions
heres what i want in it
2 perc clowns
1 firefish goby
another small fish not sure what kind any suggestions?
1 camelback shrimp
5 hermit crabs
5 turbo astrea snails
(is this a good cleaning crew?)
Maidens hair plant (know almost nothing about them but they look cool)
filter:dont know much want a protien skimmer though
lights: know nothing
heater:have one
questions
do i need to feed shrimg and other invertibrates?
is there a shipping charge for saltwaterfish.com (arent very informative about that)
please answer any of these questions and any feedback is welcome.

Hey there! I have a 24 gal tank, I keep a yellow watchman goby, a purple firefish and a true percula and also a blood/fire shrimp (he eats the flake food.) I also have the AquaC Remora skimmer (highly recommend!!) Lighting depends on what you want to do as far as corals go. Do you want to do corals? If not, lighting doesn't really matter. I think the plant will do fine in any lighting, but someone correct me if I am wrong! You may need a few more hermits...I've heard 1 per gallon, but I only keep around 15. I have 4 or 5 large turbo snails, and around 5-10 smaller turbos, and also 10-15 nassarius snails for the sand bed. And there is free shipping if you buy a certain amount of live items from the website. Good luck with the tank!

Fot another fish I'd get a yellow clown goby, (or mabe a pair) I love those little guys but my squareback anthias would probably eat one.

I got a 24 gallon JBJ nano cube with:
35 lbs of live sand
45lbs of live rock
Fish:
2 perc clowns
1 Japanese Swallowtail Angel - (going into my 90 gallon soon)
not a nano fish!!!
1 goldenhead sleeper goby
15 hermits
12 snails
2 emerald crabs
Corals:
Pagoda cup
green monti cap
blue mushrooms (5)
green star polyps
branching frogspawn
4 different zoa colonies
sun coral
Orange monti cap
yellow polyps
colony of unknown palyps...each about silver dollar size, 12 of them.
It is about a year old and I have never run a skimmer. I do 10% water change twice a month. I have upgraded the lighting to a 150 watt MH 14K with two 18 watt PC's. It is a thriving tank. I would say what you have listed is a nice start to a 24 gallon. Remember though Live Rock is the key to a good reef marine tank, if you don't want to run a ton of other equipment.

I had freshwater for probably 5 years then moved and sold all my fish back to the store. Just recently I decided I was going to do saltwater with my 30g. It's not as hard as everyone makes it out to be if you do a fish only. I currently have 3 oscelarris clowns (awesome little fish), 1 royal gramma (tons of color) , 1 yellow tang, and 2 yellowtail damsels (used to cycle my tank). I would get a hardy starfish, everyone that visits don't even look at the fish, they look at the chocolatte chip starfish. I also have 3 emerald crabs and 1 coral banded shrimp.
All I havefor equipment is a penguin bio-wheel, powersweep,and a heater and 35 lbs. of live rock.
