Starting up a new 15g Nano - what to put in canister filter?

I'm not going to make this into a mini-reef. I had just planed on a fish or 2, some snails a invert.
Maybe 1 anemomie (sp)
I have a mini-rapids canister filter that does 80gph. I was thinking of emptying it out, except for a thin piece of polyfilter/foam (very small piece of each.
Then maybe carbon (or chemi-pure)

I heard some of you guys/gals are using LR rubble, is this better than leaving it empty?
I will have Maxi-jet 600 in the tank as well, along with a 40w PC & 15w Atinic. I plan on 1-2p/g LR.
What should I put in this mini canister?

I ended up putting a Very thin layer of sponge on the intake of the cannister filter (just enough to surround the intake)
1/4" layer of foam inside can
1/8" layer of Poly Filter under that
Then Chemi-pure (1/2 of a pouch
Then a 1/8" Polyfilter on the intake of the impeller inside the can.
It may sound like alot, but it's hardly an foam/polyfilter. I hope it's not enough to become a nitrate factory. I just don't want organisms getting inside the canister filter, and I would like some mech filtration.
