Stick feeding eels, rays, sharks

I am interested in finding out how others feed these predators. Generally, I thaw a variety of different foods for all my fish and just dump the mixture in the tank. My concern is that I have to almost overfeed to make sure everyone gets food. I am thinking that if I always stick/hand feed my shark, ray and eel, then there would be less wasted food in the tank. This would also allow me to better regulate how much food everyone gets. I think this is probably a better way to feed but it is extra work for me. Do others feed like this?

I use a feeding stick to feed my sharks. I like to know exactly how much they are eating, and the feeding stick allows me a lot more control over how much food I have to put in the tank. An added benefit is, I can keep the shark busy at one end of the tank, while the other fish are eating happily at the other end, lessens the chance that a fish will end up in the sharks mouth. HTH

I feed mine on how big or how much they can get until they calm down and are full. I usally use the stick for the ground species.

Jcrim, not to steal a thread but I was looking at some different Pics and came across a pic of your 220 g tank with black sand. I am in the process of changing my 55g from CC to sand and I was thinking of using Black Sand. If you dont mind, would you answer some questions.
1. What brand of sand is that?
2. Do you personally like the sand?
3. How long have you had it?
4. Did you mix it with any other sand?
5. Any reason you would recommend I not use this product or use this product.
Thanks for your help! By the way, your tank looks awsome. I hope to have one that size some day.

I hand feed mine. In fact he knows that about 4PM it is feeding time. He comes to the top with the rest of my fish. The first time I fed him by hand I jumped a foot. Some common sense will go a long way here. He will scarf a whole piece of shrimp, jerk and run to the bottom only to return a few minutes later. I hand feed all my fish. It is the part I love about the tank.

I hand fed all of my bamboos and rays. The rays were really quick to come to the top of the tank and hang out waiting for thier food. The sharks would always go the only corner of the tank I could reach the bottom of to wait thier turn.
