still not eating...

well i got two clowns a week ago... The male still hasnt eaten as far as i can tell, and hte female will only eat if i actually put garlic in the tank along with the brine shrimp. Anyone got any ideas? I've tried flakes, pellets, brine shrimp, and misis shrimp. I've tried soaking them all in garlic for as long as 30 min but the female wont touch anything unless i actually add garlic straight to the tank and hte male wont eat no matter what. Also in the tank i have three yellowtail damsels and an anemonie (please forgive my spelling). I'm honestly not sure waht kind it is my gf found it at ***** for 7 bucks and it has been thriving in my tank. My lighting and water specs are all good and i have no idea why he isnt eating. Ontop of that i came home today (i live in Texas where it gets 100+ during the day) and when it was 80 degress outside my house was 96 and the tank water was 90 (this was at night AFTER the son went down so god knows how hot it was during the day). Me and my GF freaked and she started addin ice to the tank as i fixed the air conditioner. Everything is steady now, the tank is at 75 and the AC is working fine, but i dont think the anemonie is going to make it. So if you have any ideas on how to help out the anemonie please let me know.
Thanks all,
James

Shinok,
Welcome to the boards.

I had a simular problem with my pair. I used frozen foods: Emerald Entre and Marine Cuisine. I started with Emerald put 1 drop of garlic extreme let it set for 30 mins and they immediately went to eating. Same goes for Marine Cuisine. Give these a try.
Water temp: Most people will advise 78-82 but more importantly it needs to be stready no more then a +-2 degreee swing in a 24 hour period. This may be the reason you anemone is not feeling so hot.
Tell me a little bit about your set up:
tank size, lighting, how long the tank has been set up and water parameters. Just a helpful hint, if you include these with your problem people will respond a little faster. Just a little 101 info that I learned when I was NEW to the boards

I know about that Texas heat!

ahh man you live in plano.... sweet ur not too far from me... well its a 20 gal set up (soon upgrading to a 75) i just bought a 65 watt 50/50 straight pin compact flourescnet lamp (guy at lfs recommended it) and as far as water paramaters go... i was gonna buy the marine lab to tst it myself but i ended up spending all my money on the freakin light and anemonie. I had it checked tho at the lfs a day or two ago and everything was fine.

well i checked today and the anemone is looking good. I'm trying live brine shrimp mixed with the garlic additive i bought. Again the female ate and the male just watched it go by... a piece even landed in his mouth and he just spit it out... anyone got any ideas?
