Sting Rays.. Do They Really Sting?

o.k so i have two stingrays one cali and one yellow my kole tang is always picking on my LARGE cali ray i can see their stingers but why wouldnt he sting the fish? I also pet my rays all the time during feeding and they dont mind it at all, i mean what would it take?
BTW anyone want a kole tang for some trades?

it would take the rays life being in danger before it took any action. they are a rather gentle animal.
