my lfs has a stingray that he called a florida stingray. It has a pointed nose on it. it didn't sound like he knew a hole lot about it. But it was eating (about 4-5 in around). He wanted $105 for it.
I'm not going to buy it, lack of room. just curious if anyone had some info on this. As i will be looking more seriously when i get my tank built.
thanks
I can see about gatting a picture later today.

If I am not mistaken the Tampa Bay Devil Rays(baseball team) have a huge tank of cownose rays. These are common in the FL area. Look up that.

cubsfan yes thats it. time to research thanks for the help
thats a pretty irresponsible thing to do. Buy a stingray THEN research the animal..
im also not sure if thats def an atlantic without seeing a better pic but it looks close. i dont know because iw ould need ot see the markings and patterns on its back along with the whole tail
but let me help you out so it doesnt die ..
it is a smaller ray, can be kept in brackish water also only known to live for 2-3 years in the woild..
50% of all species in captivity will not feed ... they must eat once a day
you should feed them shrimpm , clams snails, crabs etc.
and also you should still have at least a 200 gallon aquarium to house this ray
or at LEAST 6 feet long and 24 inches wide
which basically means I HOPE you dont have this ray in your 90 or 55 gallon, especially with alot of live rock.. and it looks liek you have sand substrate which is fine

If you read my first post it says "I'm not going to buy it, lack of room"
I'm just researching for the future when i get my tank built which will be 72"*48"
I know your just looking out for the best situation for the ray, and i do appreciate the advice
