i think the ray would be fine if the trigger is always well fed. feed the trigger 2 small to medium amounts of food twice a day or else he'll get nippy. aslo feeding him live food once or twice a week should keep him clam away from nipping at anything. (with live food once a day is good).

Triggers need rockword and stingrays (ecspecially in a tank that small) prefer bare bottom. I dont think it is a good match. I don't really think a 120 is big enough.

This is very poor advice. Refer to virtually any book on the subject or talk to anyone who has kept a stingray for any amount of time. A rectangularis trigger will almost always nip at the stingray... generally at the eyes because they stick out the most. Try this combination 100 times and the stingray will be harmed 99 times!

Triggers, puffers, and large angels are a definite no-no with both sharks and rays.......I have a yellow ray in my 480 and wish I could keep puffers with him because I really love those guys, but they will really pick on the ray......as stated earlier, usually the eyes.

Triggers & rays are bad tank mates. as pointed out 99% of the time the ray will be seriously injuried or killed by the trigger.
If you still want both. Then keep the trigger in the 120 gallon tank. And get at least a 180 gallon(6'L x 2'W x 2'H) for the Cortez. They need lots of room to swim and very little rockwork.

If you want rays then I'd buy a cheap small kids pool (the plastic ones that are less then a 2ft tall) with at least 6' in diameter and put in good filtration. Keep it in a garage or outside (if you want to mess with the chiller and heater deal) and cover it up so nothing gets inside.
