This is my new shark pond. Unfortunately the sharks didn't cooperate for the picture so I just got their tails. It's a 3 foot bamboo and a 2 foot horn. The pond is about 1000 gallons. 10' X 5' X 30".

hey AC,
the pond looks like it turned out awesome! what in your opinion right now are the benefits and drawbacks to the pond if any?

The pond is great. It's nice to see plenty of room for the sharks. The drawback so far seems to be just more humidity in my basement. Although I already had 800 gallons of tanks
Cost wise, the pond was a much cheaper way of housing such large fish. So all in all I would recommend ponds for sharks.

hawk fish please email me any shark or stingray ordering web sights
i dont think many people will email them to you without know what size tank you have and what your intentions are, but i could help you out if i were to know..
it is illegal to ask for sites though on the board..
AC looks great!! i also battle moisture in my basement with two large tanks and alot of evap a day. but i found an awesome dehimidifier thats eems to work extrememly well for that!

I don't think there is a small shark available for a 135, maybe a marbled catshark or coral catshark for a 220. I don't know about rays in either tank.

Hawk Fish you need to get a bigger tank 200+ or so and or put this out of your head. Sharks are not for the regular fish keeper. So much more goes in to keeping a shark IMO than almost any other fish. You need to build the right system from the start, and not plug and play as you go. Never buy a fish that will out grow your current tank, things happen and money may not come when needed.
further 99.9% of the LFS dont want sharks as they are big and messy and will die in copper water that most LFS run in the systems.

No one should get a fish that will eventually outgrow the person's size tank.l
For a 220 you have two species of sharks available that will not outgrow your size tank. Marbled and Coral grow around 24 inches so the tank must be at least 24inches long. The dimensions are more important than the gallons.

A banded cat shark is not a great idea for a 220g. I wouldn't recomend a tank that is half as wide as the maxium length of the shark.
