Stirred up the tank...

I recently made some big changes in my tank to get rid of cyanobacteria. The cyano is gone, but I did a lot of rearranging in the process. Long story short...brown algae followed. I had a feeling there would be a diatom bloom so I'm not all that surprised. However, I have not dealt with brown algae in about 6 years. So the question is, will it go away on its own? I'm pretty patient so I'm not in a big rush to put chemicals in, but I just want to make sure I don't need to do anything extra to get rid of it. I'm also curious how long it might take (40 gal tank). Everything in the tank is doing fine fish, corals, inverts etc...I just have a new brown hue to the tank =)

Probably diatoms, and yes, it will go away. Is this tank more than six years old? It was probably high time for a thorough cleaning anyway. How 'bout some pics?

I can do some pics. It was definitely due for a thorough cleaning. Last year in late May, my heater went on the fritz. Within one day, the temp hit 92 degrees. Bad news bears...Lost the coolest bicolor angel ever, but the clowns were troopers and made it just fine. Another result, however, was the loss of all my pods and a beast of a cyano problem. I slowly fought it back and forth for quite a few months until finally breaking down and buying some chems. They worked perfect, but this gave me the chance to clean up. I washed all the rocks in some tank water during a water change. I cleaned out the dead cyano and moved some corals into better locations. The tank looks a ton better, but as I mentioned, I knew the brown algae was coming. So, once this small problem clears up, it will be back to full blown reef mode. And hopefully, I will find another great looking bicolor angel. I've seen quite a few since then, but not quite as perfect. I'll get some pics up in the next day or so. But until then, here's one of the old angel =( Kind of fast motion, but he's in there lol.
