Hey..I'm wondering about stocking a 60 gallon long reef tank.
I'm set on:
2 clowns
Blue reef chromis
Golden headed sleeper goby
Purple firefish
Yellow tang- the only one in the tank...can't live without it. I think it'll be fine since my tank is long.
Any other suggestions...?

That's not really the rule of thumb...I'd say 5+ feet would be enough. Thanks though

well, you are going to do what you want but the tank actually. Is too small for any tang.

That IS the rule of thumb...but you don't like that answer either.
Obviously you are fishing for an answer that you agree with....any responsible reefkeeper will tell you tangs need to be in a 6ft tank, some of the more active swimmers need a 8ft tank....why not just do whats right and not what you want....and if you are going to ask questions don't argue with every answer.

Alright..alright...tang police..no offense

Anyway..I'm sorry but i guess i tried to answer my own question cause i want a tang. The rule of thumb is 6 feet..but that doesn't mean every tank that has a tang in it has to be 6 feet long. I'm just saying that i think it would be fine in a five foot long tank. I'm getting a 75 gallon now....58x12x24. Thanks

kole tangs are usually okay in a smaller tank....doesnt mean its the best environment, but itll work just fine and mines been doing great . but yet i have lotsa swimming room, not a crazy amount of rock, and only 4 fish
