Stocking a 150 gallon

I'm planning ahead and seeking advise. I'm getting a 150 gallon tank with measurements of 48 x 24x 30 in a few months. It will house my V. lion, Lola. What kind of tankmates would you put in with her? The tank will have about 80 lbs LR from existing tanks around the house. Also, I really only want to have 1 or 2 additions to the tank. No, I'm not a nut, but I figure if I need 2000 sq ft of living space, my fish deserve the same proportions. Whaddyathink?

i think that's going a little overboard...you can easily add a few extra fish...plus most people don't have 2000sq. ft. to themselve...plus fish have short memories so if one fish get on anothers nerves they'll both forget a few seconds later!!!:D

The fact is simple, I only want 1 or 2 fish in the tank. One will be my V.lion. I'm also thinking of a wolf eel (which really isn't an eel) or some kind of large wrasse. I would think a 4 ft tank is too small for any kind of shark, even though it is 2ft wide and 2.5ft deep.

I'm leaning towards running the tank barebottom. Now, what kind of fish would you consider with a V.lion

I think its a good idea, But i would take up some room with corals or something. Or make it a reef tank and get 2 large reef friendly fish(large hippos!!!)

Since you're going for a bare bottom....you should avoid any sedentary fish that like to rest on the bottom. If you could be more specific in terms of color of fish...I can give you a better suggestion.

if i ahd a lionfish in 150 i would put another lionfish in. Wrasses need a sandbed dont they? What about a big angel? Annularis are my personal favorite. Im not sure if they grow too big though.

Excellent idea, fishy!!!:joy: Sometimes, the obvious is hard to see. A big tank with a couple of V.lions in it sounds awesome to me. I'm totally fasinated with these fish and to house a pair in the same tank would be awesome. I currently have a reef set-up and it's just not doing it for me. Now, i'll present the question of two lions in a tank. Thanks
