I have a 55gal FOWLER tank and I need help stocking it it is a peaceful tank. So far I have all small fish. Fish in tanka are 2clowns, carpenter flasher wrasse, 6 line wrasse, shrimp. I do not want any other wrasses. Iamo hoping to get one more shrimp and 2firefish thats the fish I want but I think my tank can hold more and when they get bigger i can put them in a 180 gal.

Sounds ok, but each tank is different. It all based on size of your filtration, how much LR you have and how much you feed them. As long as all your test come out 0 for the three basic's you are golden.

fuval 404 is rated for 100gal tank so you are good there. The power head is just for circulation, its a bit over sized for a 55, but it will be fine I would go smaller when you replace it. Still you will need to test your water to see what your prams are.

wHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE SUITABLE FOR MY TANK WITH THE FISH i WANT AND WHAT i HAVE
Hi, Telling us the parameters are good...isn't good enough. We need the number results of each test. That way we can see what tests you are doing, and by giving exact numbers it allows us to better help you.
Your tank is stocked with:
2 Wrasses
2 clown fish
2 firefish (desired)
shrimp (you can add more, nice part of the CUC)
A dwarf angelfish would make a nice show fish. My favorite is the Lemonpeel, but the coral beauty,bi-color or the flame angel are also quite stunning. The only problem with dwarf angels is that you can add only one, so you have to choose. Another nice fish you can add along with a dwarf and your present stock....would be a Royal Gramma, or an orchid dottyback (one or the other of those two...they fight)
The dwarf will only get to be about 3.5 to 4 inches, and the dottyback and Royal gramma are both about 3 inches as adults. That would pretty much max your tank.

Hi,
What time of the day did you check the PH? PH is lowest in the morning, and highest in the evening. I have had a few over the years, one for 5 yrs, Royal Grammas do not become aggressive, they might make an ugly face, opening their mouths real big... but it's just a bluff. They only fight their own kind, and a dottyback is too close to their body shape so they think it's another Royal Gramma.
Angelfish need very stable water quality, so new set-ups have trouble sometimes trying to keep them. For the first year my reef tank was set up, I couldn't keep a dwarf angelfish alive to save my life...2 years later I tried again and had no trouble. I got the Lemonpeel and I just loved it, he was my favorite fish. Don't use an air-stone ever in a SW tank. You should have two power heads to create a current/wave.

The best position I could find for my tank was a power head at each end, on the back pointed forward a little to the center (not much), so the water was pushed to the front glass and back onto the rocks to keep them clean. If you are running a canister...get a spray-bar, that will help to move the surface water and oxygenate the tank.
