I currently have the following in a 75 gallon with ~80 lbs of sand and 60 lbs LR:
fish:
(1) watchman goby
(1) false percula clown
(3) green chromises
(1) blue reef chromis
(1) orangeback basslet
inverts:
(1) yellow gorgonia
(1) tiger pistol shrimp
(1) coral banded shrimp
(2) emerald mythrax crabs
(1) orange linkia star
(1) serpent star
(10) nassarius snails
(10) cerith snails
(1) lettuce nudibranch
(~20) blue leg hermit crabs
The tank has been running smoothly for about three months (no deaths, illnesses, algae outbreaks, etc. since the cycling finished). I would like to move the livestock from this tank to a 35 gallon and use the 75 for a couple larger fish. I realize that I will have to get rid of some of these in order to avoid overloading the 35-gallon tank. Would it be sufficient to remove the green chromises and the basslet?
I am also having some difficulty figuring out exactly what to put into the 75 gallon after the current inhabitants have been transferred. I am interested in some combination of a snowflake eel, a volitan lionfish, a pink tail, blue throat or niger trigger, a puffer (preferably porcupine) and/or a frogfish or angler. From the research I've done thus far, here is my understanding of my options: The SFE should be OK with any of the other fish. There is a good chance the lionfish will not get along with the triggers, but a blue throat might be peaceful enough. A puffer may pick at the frogfish/angler, thinking it's coral. I'm currently leaning toward getting the SFE, lionfish and an angler. Does anybody see a reason why this combination might be dangerous? Also, would this be too large a bioload for a 75 gallon? I am planning on upgrading eventually to at least a 125 gallon, but that's probably at least a year down the road. Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
