Hey all its been a longtime since ive posted a question on this board but i figure all u guys helped me out with great info last year when I first startd up my tank, even though it never quite made it to reef status. Actually no coral at all. I know its sad but I just didn't trust myself. But now its time to restock my 55g I gave all my fish except my flame angel, 2 cleaner shrimp and cleanup crew to a friend. I want to make a reef friendly tank and have always been fond of anthias. Any suggestions on types of anthias that would be happy in a 55g? Yes I know that angels are 50/50 in a reef but u tell my wife that! She loves this darn angel! I was also think about 3 purp firefish and a nice wrasse but not sure what kind yet. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I too like anthias but if you want to keep a group then a 55 is too small. They are hard to keep healthy too, unfortunately.
I have a flame angel in my 55 with a false perc, lawnmower blenny, bangaai cardinal and a kole tang. All get along great and no one is bothering the few SPSs, zooa or shooms. In fact the clown just started trying to host the mushrooms!

Choices for your tank could be: a sixline wrasse, firefish, a blenny or goby, bangaai or pajama cardinal, true or false perc to name a few. If you want a schooling fish then the green or blue chromis in a group of 5 would be nice.

Yes, they can but, I've the 2 together added fairly close together. My sixline is my favorite fish, named myself after it. Sixlines love to pick at the rocks and mines favorite food is bristle worms. I also have lyretail anthias, a male and 2 females. I don't think a 55 would be adequate for them as they love to cruise all day long mainly in the upper water column. They are hard to keep because they need to eat often, small stomachs. Mine are in a 135 gal......
