First off, welcome to the board. Well I found a couple of small problems with your setup here. Number 1 probelm is the tank size. Too small for all those fish. Get a Dwarf Lion instead of a Volitan and it will be fine. Volitans generally grow to be too big for a 75 gallon and they need a 100 or more. Number 2 problem is the fact that you want a small little Mandarin in with a Lion, Eel, and a Puffer. You could strap a sign around him that says free dinner. They are too small for any aggressive tank, although they excude a poisonous toxin on their skin it would be easily killed. They also need a very mature tank. I would put in a Snowflake eel, a Porcupine Puffer, a Dwarf Lion, and a Niger Trigger. That would be nice. If you need any more help we will all help you.

lionfish (or anyone else):
will this work?
*Snowflake eel
*antenna lion
*porcupine puffer
*blue throat/jaw trigger
i checked out the niger trigger but i like the blue throat way better. are these substitutions acceptable?
if so how long before each new addition is recommended?
thanks,
mike.

yeah, i think that would be nice. might need to drop one fish though, but it might be ok with all of them. bluethroats are way cool. get a male if you can. in my 75 all i have is a snowflake eel and a picasso trigger. another cool fish you might want to look into is a hogfish. very cool and always on the move. tank sounds good. bo

Grouperhead: yeah i really like the blue throats too. is there a color difference between male and female? i've only seen pics of a male.
i forgot to add this to my first post:
i read a post where "lionfish @ SWF.com" said that a marron clown could be kept with a snowflake eel since it is a larger clown and generally has an "attitude". assuming that is true how would it do with the other fish i mentioned??
thanks,
mike

you can really tell the difference between the male and female. the males are much better looking. email me at bo2442@aol.com and i can send you a link to a pic of a male and female so you can see the difference. i also like them because they are more mild and calmer than most other triggers. bo
