Help with stocking plan for my 14gal plz! It will be a mixed "reef"
Okay, first off the stock WILL HAVE
1x Flaming Prawn Goby
1x Candy Pistol Shrimp
1x other smaller fish - debating mandarin and YES i know how hard they are to keep, but I think I can keep him/her happy. I plan on getting one that will feed on prepared food as well as buy pod cultures monthly to fill as well as have a separate and external "fuge" for the pods (as well as internal), but enough of this now...ill fathom this bridge as i get there.
I would like
1x pom-pom/boxer crab
2-3x sexy shrimp (colonies look so cool)
I'm going to assume that 3 fish would be a bad idea, but I would like to try to get a PAIR of the gobies (which seems impossible). Would 2x gobies and a mandarin be too much? Also, should 2/3 sexy shrimp as well as the boxer be okay with the pistol?
Thank you in advance, as usual.

Even if you could supply the mandarin with food, I think 14g might be too small for it. Let some others chime in on this one though...

The mandarin isnt the fish in question atm :p he gets to wait awhile
My question more lies with 2 gobies ($150 tag is a bit to risk)
and the shrimp with shrimp with crab

As far as size wise, yes you should be able to house the flaming prawn goby. As far as cost, its your money. If you can meet the needs of the fish and create an environment where it will thrive, then no worries. Would the conditions be any different for a 5 dollar damsel? Probably not, you would most likely do the same for it as if it was a 50 dollar fish. If you have done your job, then thats all you can do

Crabs - I would ask Lauren about this one. I think she has a few different types of inverts in her tank and if I remember right, a pom-pom and a sexy shrimp.

hehe, I thought my 4th revision of that mess would be less confusing :(
I would like to keep a pair of gobies with their pistol shrimp and possibly the mandarin.
As well as 3sexy shrimp and a pompomcrab
Just trying to make sure the crab wont give anybody problems with his anenomes, and the pistol wont bother the sexys

the shrimp goby is a great Idea make shure you set up your aquascape in a whay that it makes the shrimp dig the burrow near the front of the tank because there is nothing like paying 150$ for something that lives in the backside of your tank lol. Also honestly if there is anything that you can do to deter you from getting anything from the dragonete family please do so these beauty's are beter left in the ocean IMO and IME they are the most exploited sea creature.

the mandarin is a no no... believe me it wont live long in a new tank let alone a nano.
the other stuff sounds pretty good. the gobies are small, so you can get away with 3 fish.
the pom pom and sexy shrimp will be just fine.
lol this sounds a lot like the stock list for my new tank... if I ever get it!
I plan on getting a flaming prawn goby paired with a pistol shrimp. A yasha goby, some sexy shrimp and a couple pom pom crabs... are you reading my mind?!?! lol j/k
good luck!

HAHAHA, we just may think alike :p
it kind of sucks...i posted this on 3reef also, and they missed half of my questions. But thank you for your input !
Also, has anybody ever had a problem with hammer corals in a nano? I know they have sweeper tentacles, but if they are by the top (where the good light is) i think they should be fine right?

it sounds like your going to get the biocube? the stock lighting is fine to keep a hammer. I keep my frogspawn towards the top with medium flow and it loves it there. Just give it room so that it doesn't touch any other corals when it spreads.
