Not that im thinking of getting this fish at the LFS but i was there today, but what is compatable with a stonefish? does it get along with anything? i didnt evan think you can buy one
on another note i can see why people buy panther groupers..the one at my LFS was not evan an inch long and i was just thinking of how HUGE those fish get!! but what kid what know that? they look real small and cute to the untrained hobbyist!! and the funnier part was the LFS told me that they stay that small for ALONG time and it would be o.k to put him in a 50 gallon tank for about 2 years....Some of these people are CRAZY..and correct me if im wrong but dont they grow EXTREMELY quick?? :notsure:
sorry had to share that interesting story ..it always is Interesting to say the least when i go to the LFS

Stonefish are ambush predators, so I'm sure they are compatible with anything too big to swallow.
I'm sure you can buy them. People buy venomous snakes and insects... why not fish?

I owned one the most deadliest stone fish for some 15 years or more and I had it by itself in its very own tank for as long as I been having aquariums, I a good many years ago learn to only put my hands in any of my tanks only if I have too, for this goes even with my eels and reef tanks.
I never would suggest any beginner or novice hobbyist to ever own a stonefish for as well, they can move when they want to for im sure that when looking at this creature that the majority of you assume that it always stays still or move very slowly, but they can when danger is about move fast. This fish should be only for highly expert hobbyists only.

oh they know,,,i said "is that a stonefish" and the owner proudly said yes it is..and i replied "wont they kill you in minutes?" and he said, well you have about 4 hours, but yes there a deadly fish...
a truly sad story, as he tried selling him to me, but this is also the same guy who has a 3 foot nurse shark in a 500 gallon along with the biggest, fatest yellowhead moray i have ever seen and a football sized lionfish with about 10 pounds of rockwork

Stonefish are not illegal to sell and they're very cool fish. Yes, they are deadly, so extreme caution should be used around them.
Dont tank them with anything that can fit in their mouths though.
