Storing Live Sand?

Quick question peeps...
I just switched set ups (from 10gal to 29gal) and have 10lbs of fully cycled, mature LS leftover from my 10gal (I bought new sand for the 29)
I dont want to add this LS to my new 29 tank since it has already cycled and has been up for about 2 mo....can I store the leftover sand? I dont want to throw it away...Plus I will be moving in the next year and will have to take down my tank, im thinking that when I set it up again in my new place I can add the stored sand.
Any ideas or suggestions?
THANKS!

It's unlikely you'll be able to keep the sand alive for that long.
What I'd do is dry the sand out and store it that way. You can mix it with the established stuff in your DT when you move and rejuvenate it.

When I have to dry substrate, I lay it on a cookie sheet in the sun. At the end fo the first day, rake it around and redistribute it. After a couple days of doing that it's bone dry.
