Strange Clown Behavior then Disappearance

Well like the thread title says I had an Ocellaris clown that had been healthy and happy in my tank for about 2 months...it always ate anything that was offered the tank. In fact it almost constantly stayed in the front upper part of the water column. I noticed a few days ago that the clown was swimming in the bottom back part of my tank nearly stationary like it was hiding from something. I didn't notice any change in breathing or coloration. There were also no visible signs of attack such as damaged fins or gills. The following day i noted that the clown was in the same place and was occasionally lilting over onto it's side while swimming....again i didn't worry too much because i've read they are notorious for doing stupid crap....it even crossed my mind that it might be trying to mate with it's reflection in the glass. Well today four days later from the initial behavior change the clown is nowhere to be found....i have a ton of live rock in my tank and it's hard to see back behind it all. I hope the clown isn't dead....it was my favorite fish. Water parameters are stable and at good levels. Other inhabitants include a purple firefish, royal gramma, six-line wrasse, CBS, fireshrimp, 10 peppermint shrimp, multiple snails. Anyone have a guess as to what happened here?

Does sound like the little fella got ill, perhaps a bacterial infection. But if you can't find him, there's no way to know what is going on.

Beth,
Thanks for the reply...i did find the clownfish two days after I made that post. I noticed him when i returned from work swimming in one spot at the bottom of the tank unable to stay upright. He was swimming upside down and flipping around. I wonder if perhaps the "swim bladder" got ruptured somehow? Maybe one of the other fish smacked him or something? My royal gramma is a little on the aggressive side. That's what i think happened because all other fish are healthy as can be. I took him out of the tank and placed him in my HT. I was very careful to acclimate the change but I found him deceased the next morning. This was very bizarre.....if the swim bladder had ruptured would that have been enough to kill him?
