I have 10 hermit crabs as part of my cleanup crew in a 46 gallon. I've had them for about 3 weeks. After the 1st week I saw what appeared to be a hermit crab carcass, Just the leggs and head with the back missing. I assumed it died/got eaten, and pulled it out. A week later it happened again. I couldn't find the empty shells, but I couldn't locate all the crabs so I didn't think anything of it.
Today I woke up to see what appeared to be 2 more carcases. But when I search for empty shells, I instead discovered that I still had all 10 crabs crawling around. These carcases really look like the whole crab with the back end having been eaten off. I'm not neccesarily so concerned but very curious as to what is going on.
