I had one with out any problems. Other than when I introduced an emerald crab, the fish nipped it once. Than left it alone.

My experience with pseudochromis is that they are aggressive and territorial... even towards fish that are way larger than they are.
The one we had chased all the other fish around the aquarium constantly. I don't remember it ever actually killing anything, but it kept all my other fish in a constant state of stress. I'll never own another one... just my two cents.

My pseudochromis is pretty territorial. He has his area of the tank, and will chase anything that get's near it, even shrimp. He has never eaten any of the shrimp, but I have watched him knock the shrimp away from his area.

I have a strawberry pseudochromis and two cleaner shrimp. I have never seen the strawberry go after the shrimp although the shrimp seem to hide more than I expected and I have never seen the shrimp clean the strawberry. I was told that strawberries will chase other fish but rarely ever damage them.

The only thing you need to worry about the purple psuedo and all pseudo's for that matter is territoriality and tank size. If it becomes an issue when you add something to the tank, and it always does in small tanks, try messing up his home. They pick out their cave and defend it well. Another sign you need to watch for is damage on chased fish. If scales or fins are missing constantly then you have a serious problem that needs to be resolved or someone is going to end up dead.
Heck my blue and yellow tail damsel goes after hermits that are in its area. Funniest thing to watch.

My strawberry nipped at my crabs often, if you look at their jaws, you can see that they are designed for nothing but eating and tearing. They are mean by nature. Beautiful fish, but IME veyr mean and territorial.

yea ours is very mean, he set up his area of the tank, which turns out to be HALF the tank, hes in our 55g, he keeps all the other fish on the left side of the tank, poop fishies. we tryed to get him out last night to put him in our meanie tank, but even after taking out about half the rock, we still couldnt get him, so just gave up. well i just hope none of our fish get hurt or die, then i would be mad. thanks for all the info.
